Alexis Barad-Cutler is a writer and cultural observer exploring how women see–and are seen–through the warped lens of beauty culture.

Her writing examines the stories we inherit and internalize—about gender, worth, and belonging—and how we might reclaim them on our own terms. She’s currently working on a memoir about the messy, evolving relationship between motherhood, identity, and beauty culture.

“What connects all my work is the evolution of self—how we grow through each version of who we’ve been. Each project captures a moment in that becoming, an attempt to feel more at home in my ever-changing skin.”
